This BBC East Midlands Inside Out episode, presented by Spencer Kelly of The BBC's flagship technology TV show Click offers some quality insights into Lincolnshire, its communities, businesses and the Big Society Broadband adventures that NextGenUs has been engaged in delivering during 2010.

Excellent coverage of:

Ashby Parish Councillor, Jenny Wilkinson describing what Big Society means in practical terms

Lincolnshire County Councillor Eran Bauer on the difficulties faced by rural businesses due to widespread lack of broadband

Dr Charles Trotman of CLA, leading advocate for rural broadband affairs

and Alan Srbljanin of EMDA, a leading authority on how to progress and future-proof Digital Britain

Thanks to TrefD for covering the pioneering Ashby FttH project, also picked up by knowledgeable source ISPReview.

In the midst of digging holes and erecting aerials it is easy to forget what really matters, the real reason why all this cost and effort is well worth expending.

FttH is all about providing a service to the local community, the NextGenUs approach being to put people first over commercial gain.

The last two days have been a true affirmation of why building FttH is so important:

Seeing the reaction on the faces of the local community regardless of age or gender when each family can actually experience the future of broadband in their own homes.

This is what the 4th Utility is all about, taking a former Notspot community to the forefront of Digital Britain.

Only 20,000 more Ashbys to go and then the Final Third First lobby demand becomes a statement of fact.
